Akna emerges from the dunes as one of the Awakened, half-remembering a wintry and faraway place. Although she retained the shamanistic traditions of her homeland, her memories (like that of most Awakened) were blurred and incomplete. She was known to have struggled in search of purpose in this desert, amid a world she found painfully strange, but eventually found it in the ideals of the White League. Quickly establishing herself on the merit of her idealistic and moderate beliefs, she rose to political power on a "unity ticket" with Ricario Cassella, supporting him as his future Prelate all the way to the polls.

Amidst Ricario's failed rebellion against Baz'eel, Akna swiftly launched a political coup against him, and seized the seat of Legate for herself. There, she navigated many crises, until finally being unseated herself by one of the many reelections of Marcellus Saenus.

She met her demise on the battlefield. Volunteering to serve in the war against Iakmes, she helped rescue the mercenary company known as the "Boundary Men" from certain doom and averted a devastating invasion of Ephia's Well.

A brilliant young scientist whose work revolved around manipulating energy and light, Apothar Oscar Kreutz was the erstwhile apprentice the more famous Mae Stern. He was known primarily for his work on "the Simulacra," magical duplicates iteratively created with more and more sentience, and for his study of terrors outside time known as "the Tormented."

Having vanished during a perilous expedition into the depths of the Assuru, his fate is unknown... but is almost certainly unkind...
